Nintendo DS Leads In A Slow Week For Japanese Hardware

In a slow sales week for Japanese hardware, the Nintendo DS continued to top the charts, and nearly all platforms experienced a sales decline when compared to last week.
The Nintendo DS remained on top of the all-platform weekly Japanese hardware sales charts, while the PlayStation 3 led the individual hardware versions list, announced tracking firm Media Create. Sales across nearly all hardware saw a declinefor the week ended August 22, resulting in a slight shuffle in the rankings on the individual hardware versions chart after last week’s overall sales boost. On the individual hardware versions chart, the PS3 overtook the PSP’s spot at number one, the DSi Took the Wii’s spot at number four, and the DS Lite beat the Xbox 360 at number six. With all its hardware versions combined, the Nintendo DS line saw the most sales notable drop, from last week’s 57,582 units sold to 45,221 units this week. On the whole, Japanese software sales were slow, with only From Software’s Another Century’s Episode R and Nintendo’s Wii Party selling more than 23,000 units, which correlates with this week's slow hardware sales. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended August 22, 2010. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
