In what has proved to be the company’s best month, in terms of sales and positive press, for many years Nintendo’s
Mario Kart has topped the US sales chart and seen the GameCube almost outsell the PlayStation 2.
The company’s home console has easily outsold the Xbox in November and it now seems entirely likely that the GameCube could overtake the Xbox, in terms of US installed user base, before the release of
Halo 2 – the Xbox’s next big triple A release.
Certainly this news will make Microsoft’s claim, that the Xbox is the second best selling console world-wide, seem all the more difficult to believe, since North America was previously seen as the format’s best performing market.
