Nintendo Cuts Game Prices To Boost Sales

Nintendo, fearing it may be losing ground to Xbox in the race for second place in the console wars, today announced a new promotion in which it will cut prices on some of its top games and give away hit games with its console.
The company is taking a three-pronged approach to goosing sales. First, it will offer one of four games for free with the $149.95 GameCube: Metroid Prime, Star Fox Adventures, Mario Party 4 or Resident Evil 0. Second, Nintendo has cut the price of its Super Mario Sunshine bundle, which includes the game, the console, and an external memory card. Formerly priced $189.95, Nintendo lowered the bundle to $159.95. Finally, Nintendo is cutting prices on a number of older Gamecube games. Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee, among others, are being reduced from $49.95 to $29.95.
