Nintendo of America has revealed a new color scheme for the DS, announcing that a new Cobalt/Black system will join the options on offer at retail in North America on February 10th, 2008.
The top half of the new DS system is blue and the bottom half is black - a similar layout to the red-and-black format that
was first bundled with
Brain Age late in 2007.
The Cobalt/Black DS marks the seventh color Nintendo has announced for the currently $129-retailing DS handheld, following Polar White, Coral Pink, Onyx, Crimson/Black and the limited-edition Gold and Metallic Rose.
Nintendo of America also used its official release announcing the color variant to reiterate notable 2007 stats for DS sales, which sold more than 8.5 million units in the year, and more than 17.6 million since its November, 2004 launch.
