Speaking at the Gamers Day 2003 event SCEA officials have revealed new details about the PlayStation Portable (PSP) console, due for release late next year. The device will apparently include the famous four face buttons (triangle, circle, cross and square), a D-pad, a single analogue controller, two shoulder buttons and a Start and Select button. All of which makes it one of the most button heavy portables yet and may imply a significantly larger device that the GBA SP. Sony also used Nintendo’s catchphrase of “connectivity”, indicating the PSP would be able to link up to a PS2 (and presumably PS3), PC or another PSP. Also, Battery life was said to be “comparable to other high-end devices” and officials were once again keen to promise that the machine’s graphical abilities would be more akin to the PS2 than the PS one.
