The Centre for Digital Media at Great Northern Way Campus in Vancouver has started a master’s program in digital media with the first class enrolled this semester.
Twenty-five students are currently signed up for the two-year program. The coursework will involve “working in both real world and virtual worlds on real life projects for industry giants such as Electronic Arts, Disney, Autodesk, Radical Entertainment and others,” according to an official statement.
The students’ degree, when completed, will be equivalent to an MBA in digital media and will bear the names of four major universities in Canada. The press release explains, “Students in the program will receive a master's degree bearing the seal of Vancouver’s four major postsecondary institutions: University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology and the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design. This cross-university diploma is a first of its kind in the world.”
