Representatives from new start-up venture Kuma Reality Games today revealed the company’s intentions to deliver weekly episodic content that allows gamers to “play the news as it is reported”. The company’s first game will be Kuma: War – a subscription product that will be made available through traditional software outlets and high-speed access providers when it is launched in February 2004. Each mission in the game will apparently be based on real world news reporting, KH-11 satellite imagery and intelligence provided by Kuma’s own in-house retired U.S Marine Corps Major General. The game itself will be a first person tactical and vehicle-based combat game. Which presumably lessens the chances of any missions being based on treasury fiscal reports or other less violent news stories.
