A notice on the company’s website indicates that developer Neural Forge have gone on an 'indefinite hiatus' after working for over a year without funding. The company was developing a fantasy based, PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game named
Primeval: Wrath of Entropy.
The full announcement simply states: "Well, it was a fun ride but the ride has come to its conclusion. It's very difficult to keep a team alive and interested in a project for over a year without funding. So, Primeval and NFD are going on indefinite hiatus. Each contributor will keep their ownerships of their contributions to the project. Thanks for the interest and I hope to see you all again at some point in the future."
The MMO genre has proven to be an extremely volatile one in the last twelve months, with companies both big and small - and including Microsoft, Sega, Ubisoft, Codemasters and Electronic Arts - all pulling out of development and publishing deals recently. However, there is continuing interest from venture capital in certain MMO companies, especially those with a license or history guaranteeing a certain base level of monthly subscriptions.
