According to remarks emanating from Japan via this month's Famitsu magazine, Namco is aggressively pursuing the next-generation, having already made steps toward development for new hardware.
As part of an interview with the magazine, Namco vice president Yoichi Haraguchi commented: "Namco is already developing tools for [un-named] next generation hardware. If we can apply the tools that we've made to other titles, we'll be able to reduce the development costs associated with making a single game. Thus, if we get the chance, we'd definitely like to cooperatively develop a game in this fashion in the future."
This follows Namco’s tendency to be one of the first companies developing games for new hardware, and abstractly, this tactic is clearly intended to allay some of the potentially exorbitant costs associated with a generational shift and increased game detail.
