Following its announcement of a
consolidated European division for traditional console and PC titles, officials from Namco Bandai have also announced the formation of a new Web and mobile content division in Europe.
The new company, named Namco Bandai Networks Europe, is to focus exclusively on mobile entertainment content based on established Namco brands such as
Pac-Man,
Galaxian and
Ridge Racer, as well as Bandai’s own portfolio of games and non-gaming content such as
Tamagotchi.
The company also plans to publish mobile content created specifically for the European market, from both Namco Bandai and third party developers. The new company will be responsible for all aspects of Namco Bandai’s mobile entertainment strategy in Europe, including its i-mode sites such as Pac-Man Arcade and Bandai Pocket.
“The creation of Namco Bandai Networks Europe Ltd shows that mobile content remains an essential part of Namco Bandai’s business as we continue to invest in the growth of our European organization,” said Masaji Okubo, managing director of Namco Bandai Networks Europe. “Over the coming months our operator and publisher partners - and consumers - will benefit from the increased focus and resources this new company brings. I believe our commitment to delivering a superior mobile experience will see Namco Bandai continue to be one of the industry’s most successful mobile publishers.”
