Yahoo! Games has signed an agreement with casual game developer MumboJumbo (Luxor) to create a series of games exclusively for Yahoo! Games, as the casual game market continues to hot up, and big casual portals start to accumulate exclusive games that will draw consumers solely to their websites. MumboJumbo, which in a different incarnation was formerly a full-price PC game developer (Myth III: The Wolf Age) is best known as the developer of recent casual PC games such as Luxor: Amun Rising and Chainz 2: Relinked , as well as UltraBall and Twisty Tracks. “MumboJumbo is a recognizable leader in the casual game space and their title Luxor: Amun Rising was a huge success for our audience,” said John Cahill, head of games platforms at Yahoo! Games. “They know what it takes to create hit titles for Yahoo!'s audience and we look forward to working with them to expand our casual games catalog.” In addition, MumboJumbo officially announced that Paul Jensen has been hired as President of the company. Jensen was most recently the president of SkillJam and brings his many years of experience in the casual games business to the company. Prior to SkillJam, Jensen was Vice President of Online Games at Sony Pictures and held various online games-related positions including Business Manager of Online Games for Microsoft. "Paul brings a wealth of experience in consumer entertainment and casual gaming," commented Mark Cottam, CEO of MumboJumbo. "His background and expertise will bring synergy and focus as the company further expands its operations into the digital space. We are delighted to have Paul join the team and look forward to his involvement in the company's growth." [UPDATE: 05/04/06, 4.15pm - added info on new President.]
