MTV Networks' Entertainment Group has announced the promotion of former GameTrailers CEO Jon Slusser to senior VP of Spike digital and video games, where he will oversee the integration of iFilm and Spike TV, as well as the PC application Xfire and Gametrailers.com. MTVN says in his new role, Slusser will manage the forthcoming merger of iFilm with Spike TV as Spike.com, which it says will bring "Spike's broadband and television assets to further strengthen the Entertainment Group's digital reach to the coveted male 18-34 demo." Slusser launched GameTrailers in 2003 with his partners, and joined MTVN as vice president upon the site's acquisition in 2005. Previous to his role, Slusser co-founded Hornet, Inc., a commercial production and design company specializing in live-action film, motion graphics and computer animation. Said, Erik Flannigan, executive VP of digital media, "Jon came to us when MTV Networks acquired GameTrailers, already a powerhouse in delivering deep video content for gamers and creating original programming. Now we are able to leverage Jon's expertise in the Entertainment Group's wider, multi-platform digital world. He'll play a key role in creating the Web's premiere destinations for men."
