Consumer electronics manufacturer Motorola has announced the winners of its 2006 Code:Moto competition, a two-day contest at the 2006 Game Developers Conference to create new and innovative mobile games for Motorola handsets. A panel of four judges gave out points based on categories such as ease of play, design, art and sound, and unique features. The winners for this year's competition were Andreja Djokovic of Barbaroga, whose puzzle game Konstruxis won the grand prize, and Jennifer Hruska and Shayne Guiliano of Sonic Network, whose rhythm game Pyrosonix won the runner-up. The judging was close enough, however, that the panel elected to give both teams the full grand prize set, which includes opportunities to fully develop their games for Motorola platforms. "Mobile devices have to perform as good as they look," said Motorola VP of Ecosystem and Market Development Christy Wyatt. "That means creating software as compelling as our designs - and working with the best talent to do it. Andreja from Barbaroga and Jennifer and Shayne from Sonic Network are that kind of talent. We're looking forward to our continued work with them and the entire mobile developer community to deliver even more big things in the future."
