Further details have appeared online concerning the next generation console formats, this time Nintendo’s GameCube follow-up – currently codenamed “Revolution”. The new information was revealed during a conference call from Monolithic Systems Technology (usually referred to simply as MoSys), as the embedded memory tech firm announced its quarterly earnings. During the call, Interim CEO and CFO Mark Voll made the following comment: "During the quarter, we announced that NEC Electronics will now use our 1T-SRAM embedded memory technologies on their advanced 90nm process, and that the initial designs to be incorporated in SoCs will be used in Nintendo's next-generation game console, code-named Revolution. We are excited to be a participating member of the Nintendo team once again as Nintendo will roll out its successor game console to the GameCube in mid-2006." This statement is particularly interesting since Nintendo itself has not confirmed a debut date for the console. The confirmation that the Revolution will use 1T-SRAM contradicts previous rumors that the system would not use the advanced form of embedded memory. Whether the full technical specifications of the machine will be released during the course of E3, either officially or otherwise, remains to be seen.
