A series of comments at CES by Sony officials have shed further light on the company’s plans for the future of EyeToy. Despite earlier worries of the potential for misuse, the company is now actively encouraging developers to use the EyeToy webcam for online video communications, with the first such titles expected by the end of this year.
This ties in with unconfirmed Internet rumours that the company is planning a full personal communications network for the PlayStation 3. According to reports this service would not primarily be video games based but would focus on video messaging and real-time chat.
