Officials from European publisher and developer Monte Cristo have angrily rebuffed suggestions that the company has become a label of the recently formed DJ Group or that it has received any investment from DJ Group benefactor Myriad Interactive.
A press release announcing the
formation of the DJ Group on November 25 suggested that the company would be operating a number of distribution companies, including Digital Jesters, Turtle Games and Monte Cristo.
According to Monte Cristo CEO Jerome Gastaldi though, "Monte Cristo is an independent company which has appointed Digital Jesters to distribute part of our portfolio of games in the United Kingdom. This is our only link with Digital Jesters."
"In addition, our relationship with Digital Jesters is currently at a standstill. Despite firm commitment from a representative of the new investors, their financial promises are not being met at the present time", he added.
British publishers Digital Jesters have courted considerable controversy in recent months, with rumors of unpaid bills and other irregularities, culminating in both
Wild Earth developer Super X Studios and
Bet On Soldier developer Kylotonn Entertainment
breaking their ties with the company and thereby the DJ Group.
