Mobile game developer and publisher Floodgate Entertainment has announced a co-publishing agreement that will see Sony BMG Music Entertainment assisting in the distribution of the company's upcoming virtual pet title
Mo-Pets. Terms of the worldwide deal were not disclosed.
Mo-Pets allows for gamers to adopt a traditional cat or dog, as well as a slightly less traditional ferret or monkey. Gamers then teach their pet tricks, train them through various minigames, and ultimately show off their training skills in talent shows, filled with other
Mo-Pets owners. Competitions begin at the regional level, but top
Mo-Pets players will eventually be able to compete in national competitions.
“We’ve had a great time creating
Mo-Pets,” Floodgate Entertainment Creative Director Paul Neurath said in a statement. “We weren’t sure if we could make a game where the player would fall in love with a virtual ferret. I actually think we pulled it off.”
Floodgate's previous title,
Pirates of the Caribbean Multiplayer, offered similar online-enabled, persistent-world elements.
Sony BMG announced a similar co-publishing agreement for Your World Games' mobile RPG
The Shroud in August. The
Mo-Pets news coupled with the previous YWG agreement seem to indicate that we can expect more mobile gaming announcements from Sony BMG in the future.
