Mobile game publisher Gameloft has announced that it has signed tennis star Lleyton Hewitt as both the "cover" athlete and a playable character in the company's first tennis title,
Tennis Open 2007 feat. Lleyton Hewitt.
The game allows for play across a variety of surfaces, including clay, grass, and hard courts. Gamers are given the opportunity to rise from a no-name beginner to the #1 player in the world, by competing in a variety of tournaments and training sessions in multiple cities worldwide.
The 25-year-old Hewitt held the #1 ranking for nearly 18 months, and remains the youngest player to have become ATP world champion, at the age of 20. He has claimed two Grand Slam tournament victories (US Open 2001 and Wimbledon 2002), two Davis Cups with the Australian national team, two victories during the Master Series, and no fewer than 25 titles on the ATP circuit.
Tennis 2007 continues Gameloft's tradition of licensing big sports stars for its mobile sports franchises. The company also publishes
Derek Jeter Pro Baseball,
Vijay Singh Pro Golf, and
Marcel Desailly Pro Soccer.
Tennis Open 2007 feat. Lleyton Hewitt is available now in 70 countries, across 160 carriers and 600 individual handsets.
