MMORPG.Com, a consumer website dedicated to online role-playing games, has announced the winners of its 2005 Reader's Choice Awards. The first such awards presented by the site, the nominees were voted on by thousands of the site's audience members. "Favorite Company" was an interesting choice for category, measuring readers' loyalty to a developer rather than to a game world. EVE Online developers CCP Games, based in Iceland, won the category with 44% of the vote, due to strong customer service and relations with the game's fans. In the technical categories, EVE Online also won Best Graphics and best Player vs. Player combat, with 51% and 55% of the vote respectively, an impressive feat given that the game was not even originally nominated in the PvP category. World of Warcraft took best Player vs. Environment combat, with its extensive quests and raid dungeons. In more subjective categories, The Saga of Ryzom from Nevrax won Best Story, with a variety of server-specific plotlines and live events orchestrated by ex-Turbine writer Jessica Mulligan. The 2005 award for game that hasn't been released yet, Most Anticipated, went to Dungeons & Dragons Online, though the category was the closest vote and the game won with just 13% of the total. Finally, EVE Online took Best Game, with 40% of the vote, well ahead of commercial favorite World of Warcraft in second place.
