Midway has announced what it calls an "open world, lifestyle action experience" titled This is Vegas, planned for a Winter 2008 release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The game, in development by Midway's Seattle-based internal studio Surreal (The Suffering), promises to let players live out Vegas fantasies by fighting, gambling, driving and partying in the titular city. In the game, the player is tasked with building a powerful empire to thwart a businessman who aims to turn Las Vegas into a more family-friendly city. Gameplay involves raising funds at casinos, fighting off enemies and racing cars on the underground circuit. Surreal studio head Alan Patmore said, "We are thrilled to be unveiling the first-ever video game experience which allows players to live out their wildest Vegas fantasies. Whether it's partying in the hottest night clubs, racing in underground circuits, testing your luck at the tables or getting into a barroom brawl, This is Vegas has it all."
