In a speech at CES, Bill Gates has indicated that the Xbox is set to be integrated with the Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system, to allow remote media playback on the console. The move is seen as the first step in competing against Sony’s PSX and the wider home entertainment market.
Xbox users will be able to use their console as a remote viewer for movies, music and images stored on their PC. The kit will be sold as a standalone set-top box that connects wirelessly to a PC and comes with a Xbox disc and dedicated remote control.
