Microsoft Downgrades Xbox Specs

In an interview with Vincent Lopez of IGN.Xbox.com, J. Allard, General Manager of the Xbox, confirmed that the Xbox will not be as powerful as initially described.
In the interview, Allard said that the Xbox GPU will operate at 250MHz instead of the initially stated 300MHz, and that the peak polygon performance will be 125 million polygons instead of the original 300 million that Microsoft indicated. "Initially, we thought that a 600MHz CPU and a 300MHz GPU was about right -- and that was in March. ...[Now] we decided that the 250MHz [GPU] combined with the 733MHz [CPU] is really the right balance," Allard said in the interview. Allard also stated that in order to use the Xbox to play DVD movies, you'll have to purchase a separate remote in the $20-30 range.
