In a rare double-header for its regular Wednesday updates, Microsoft has announced that Konami's 80s arcade shooter
Gyruss and
3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures from Sierra Online and Wanako Games (
Assault Heroes) will both be added to Xbox Live Arcade on April 18.
First announced last September as coming to the service,
Gyruss was originally released in arcades in 1983, and has since that time appeared on a variety of platforms, including the NES, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance. The latest version will include not only the original arcade space shooter, but also an updated version with redesigned graphics. The game will also include voice support, digitally enhanced sound, and leaderboards.
As the other release announced for April 18,
3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures will feature 36 holes of minigolf in courses ranging from the Old West to outer space. The game will also include a customizable course editor that allows players to build their own courses by mixing and matching combinations of tees, straights, corners, cups, junctions and ramps.
Ultra MiniGolf is developed by Wanako Games, also responsible for Xbox Live Arcade shooter
Assault Heroes, who in February
were acquired by publisher Vivendi.
Gyruss will be available for 400 points ($5), while
3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures will carry a price of 800 points ($10). In addition, both games will include the Xbox Live Arcade standard 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points.
