Publisher Mastiff (Gurumin, La Pucelle: Tactics) has announced it has acquired the license to create a game based on Major League Eating, the body that oversees popular "sports" like the July 4th hot dog eating contest popularized by Japan's Takeru Kobayashi. While no release date or potential platforms have yet been announced, Major League Eating: The Game, says Mastiff, will feature "the world’s greatest gurgitory athletes competing across twelve different food types." The publisher says the game will play "like a fighting game," requiring players to "show brilliant on-screen eating; a mastery of offensive and defensive weapons including burps, belches, and mustard gas; and of course the technical mastery necessary to avoid emptying one’s stomach in a vividly colored reversal of fortune." While Mastiff has remained relatively quiet since the release of PSP action RPG Gurumin, the publisher announced an agreement with Renegade Kid, developer of the GameCock published DS survival horror Dementium: The Ward, to publish their next DS game, given the working title of "Project M" and utilizing Renegade Kid's 3D engine. Said 'Head Woof' Bill Swartz, “Major League Eaters aren’t just elite athletes. They are the people who built America. Or at least the competitive eating part of America. And I am deeply honored that the International Federation of Competitive Eating and Major League Eating choose Mastiff as their exclusive video game partner.”
