Comic book giant Marvel has announced that it has hired 12 year Sony veteran Ira Rubenstein to the newly created position of Global Digital Media executive vice president, where he will oversee the company's push into mobile and casual games and strategic partnerships.
Most recently, Rubenstein served as Sony Pictures Digital's executive VP, where he oversaw the division's growth across SonyPictures.com, mobile games and personalization products, casual games, and innovative strategic partnerships.
There, he managed the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! brands, bringing them to broadband, interactive television, mobile, and the PSP and PS3, as well as Sony's mobile versions of Spider-Man 2: The Hero Returns
and Ratchet and Clank: Going Mobile
Marvel says Rubenstein will be key to its efforts to "maximize the Marvel Universe across all digital media," including its web destinations Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com, and Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, and digital video and animated content, on top of its efforts in the games industry.
Said Rubenstein, “With a world-renowned library of characters to tap into, I am very excited to join Marvel and ultimately develop valuable digital assets that resonate with consumers and beyond. This is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to extending the reach of these iconic properties across a whole new Marvel universe."
