Majesco Entertainment has announced that
Cooking Mama, the stylus-based cooking game for the Nintendo DS, has shipped more than 500,000 retail units since its September 2006 launch.
On the heels of its success, Majesco
recently announced a sequel for the DS titled
Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends. Just as the original
Cooking Mama had a Wii spin-off (
Cooking Mama: Cook Off), Majesco says it will announce details soon on a Wii version of the sequel.
The franchise continues to be a top seller for the publisher, with the company
announcing Q2 sales in June of $14.6 million, over half of which came from from Wii software sales of
Cooking Mama: Cook Off, as well as its
Bust A Move Bash.
“We are excited by the sales performance of Cooking Mama as it reinforces Majesco’s content and platform strategy,” said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing. “We look forward to further building the franchise while introducing new players to the fun and unique gameplay within Mama’s kitchen.”
