Macmillan Software announced the release of Game Programming Starter Kit 5.0, a combination software and the latest edition of Marc Saltzman's book, Game Design: Secrets of the Sages, Third Edition. The kit includes the introductory edition of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, 3D GameStudio Standard 5.12, the DirectX 8.0 SDK, an e-book titled "Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus", and Saltzman's 500-page book.
