The CMP Game Group, which also produces the Game Developers Conference and operates Gamasutra, has announced the first keynote speaker for its GDC London event, which is part of the London Games Festival taking place this October. The event will feature a keynote address by LucasArts' Chris Williams, who is currently working as the project lead on the company's upcoming next-generation Indiana Jones title, with more keynotes set to be announced soon. In his speech, titled 'Unlearn What You Have Learned: Implementing Next-Gen Gameplay', Williams will address the issues and concerns surrounding next-generation game development, as well as the opportunities afforded by the new technology. He will also present several real time demonstrations in order to highlight the tools, technology, and development challenges associated with LucasArts' next-gen game development. GDC London will focus exclusively on advanced techniques in game development, with a special focus on the UK, and will take place October 2-4 at 195 Piccadilly, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) headquarters. Other major speakers include Nina Kristensen and other memebers of Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword) on 'Combat: The Ninja Way', Midway's Harvey Smith on 'The Imago Effect: Avatar Psychology', and Michael Khaimzon of Crytek (Crysis) on 'High-Def Outdoor Environments'. GDC London joins with ELSPA (The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association), TIGA (The Independent Games Developers Association) and BAFTA, who have created a week long cultural and business celebration of video games in London. The London Games Festival will combine key events throughout the Capital from Monday 2nd October 2006. These events include the London Games Summit presented by ELSPA and TIGA and programmed by the CMP Game Group, the London Game Career Fair presented by Gamasutra.com, GamesIndustry.biz and Eurogamer.net, the London Content, Outsourcing and Middleware Market presented by TIGA, and BAFTA's British Academy Video Games Awards. Early rate pricing for GDC London expires September 15. Interested parties can visit the official GDC London website to register for attendance and review conference information.
