The company has discontinued planned ports of
Star Wars Super Bombad Racing for Macintosh and PC, and is pulling out of the consumer game market. The company had been marketing the ports of the game, originally released earlier this year for Playstation 2, as recently as E3. Lucas Learning will now focus instead on creating and marketing a line of curriculum-based educational software directly to schools for use by students in grades K-12.
Jane Boston, general manager of Lucas Learning, was positive about the company's new direction: "Our ability to focus exclusively on the educational market is a wonderful opportunity to bring George Lucas' vision -- to make learning engaging and inspiring -- to life.... The unique advantage we have being part of the Lucas family will enable us to deliver an innovative and universally appealing product to schools, while meeting the need for outstanding core curriculum."
