Multilingual Computing and The Localization Institute, in cooperation with the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), have announced Localization World Seattle 2007, a networking and educational event for localization professionals. The conference will be held in Seattle on October 16-18, 2007.
From localization in the global games, electronics, software, and even publishing markets to best practices in offshore translation project management, the international conference will address the challenges involved in localizing products and the outlook for the globalization and localization industry.
Jeff Howe of Wired Magazine will provide the keynote address, “Crowdsourcing in the Translation Industry.” Other panelists and presenters include industry leaders from Cardinal Health, Tektronics, Symantec, Microsoft, HP, SDL International, Common Sense Advisory and others.
The Localization World Seattle program will feature three concurrent tracks of information, discussion and case studies from a wide range of applications. Sessions will focus on multiple vertical industries, including medical, retail, and software.
“While localization often refers specifically to software, it also applies to many products and services,” says Donna Parrish, publisher of the magazine MultiLingual Computing & Technology and one of the organizers of Localization World. “When we think about localization, we think about translation. But translation is really the most visible part of the process.”
