Dutch publisher Lighthouse Interactive says it’s been granted a license to publish and develop games for the Nintendo DS and Wii in Europe.
Best known for hardcore PC games such as
Overclocked,
Sword of the Stars and
Ship Sim, the publisher has given no indication as to what kinds of games it intends to release on the formats, and whether they will be part of new or existing franchises.
Lighthouse was
bought by Canadian developer SilverBirch in April, who already have a publisher license agreement with Nintendo and are currently working on a Nintendo DS (and PSP) version of Xbox Live Arcade hit
N+.
Steve Wall, co-founder and vice president of Lighthouse Interactive commented: “This is a significant milestone in the continued growth of the company. It gives us the opportunity to further expand our product catalog and take Lighthouse Interactive to the next level. We look forward to working with Nintendo.”
