A buoyant month of sales has seen the June top ten console sales in the US split almost equally between the major formats and publishers. The only slight surprise is that Electronic Arts have only one title in the top ten, with Nintendo and Activision leading with three each.
Spider-Man 2 is the wholly expected number one title, although THQ has also done extremely well with
Full Spectrum Warrior – with it and Vivendi’s
The Chronicles of Riddick likely to form the beginnings of whole new franchises.
The NES Classics line has also proven to be almost as big a hit in the US as in Japan with the budget re-release of
Super Mario Bros. entering at number nine and
The Legend of Zelda at number eleven.
