Electronic Arts have achieved what has seemed inevitable for the company for several months now, and captured the Christmas number one spot in the UK. The critically reviled title Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is apparently the first ever war related game to achieved a UK Christmas number one, although Electronic Arts staff will be more interested to find they have beaten the previous record of three separate titles in the Christmas top ten – with a highly impressive six games. Overall though the charts are revealed as surprisingly stagnant, with six titles retaining their exact position from last week. Crash Nitro Kart though, has risen by thirteen places to number eleven, on the back of heavy in store promotion, while Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – considered by many to be the highest quality title of the season – rises nine places to a still disappointing number thirteen.
