November sales for PC games in the U.S. show a remarkable amount of activity for the normally staid charts, with three new entries in the top ten.
World of WarCraft, claimed to be the best selling PC title of all time in the U.S., is at number one, but since detailed sales figures have still not been released for
Half-Life 2 via the online distribution system Steam, it is impossible to judge exactly how it fared compared to its competitors.
EverQuest II seems to have had less impact than its massively multiplayer online role-playing rival, although, as is the nature of the genre, both games are likely to continue to sell in significant numbers for some months and years to come.
But with only Electronic Arts’
Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth to come before Christmas on the PC, it seems likely that
World of WarCraft will be the number one PC title this Christmas in North America.
