A pachinko simulator has gone straight into number one in the Japanese sales charts, following the Golden Week national holidays. This is traditionally a very quiet period for game sales in Japan, although the drop-off this year from week to week is lower than at other times, at just 70.64%
Even so
Pachinko Slot Tokodensho sold only 81,000 units and Bandai’s second place Gundam title just 49,000 units. Perhaps the most notable new entry this week though is NEC Interchannel’s PS one title
Black Matrix 00, which again proves the continued relevance of Sony’s first console – particularly in Japan.
Indeed, in terms of console sales the PS one has outsold the Xbox for the second week running with a 0.63% market share, compared to 0.41% for Microsoft’s machine. The PlayStation 2 has lead the market again though with a 52.07% share, followed by Game Boy Advance at 38.91% and GameCube at 7.84%.
