The beginning of the school summer holidays have had a positive effect on game sales in Japan with eight new entries in the top ten. Nintendo’s
Paper Mario RPG (aka
Paper Mario 2) lead the way with around 159,000 units sold, followed by From Software’s first
Tenchu title since acquiring the brand from Activision.
Konami’s second light sensor equipped
Boktai title entered at number four, followed by yet another
Naruto anime title from Tomy and the fourth incarnation of Namco’s popular drumming game
Taiko no Tatsujin.
Hardware sales were also up this week with the PlayStation 2’s lead eroding a little to a 46.10% market share, followed by the Game Boy Advance at 42.57%, the GameCube at 10.85% and the Xbox at 0.31%.
