After previously suffering its worst week of sales all year the Japanese market has rallied somewhat, although overall software sales this week are still only 73.42% of the weekly average.
The highest new entry is the latest iteration of Konami’s popular baseball series, with the PlayStation 2 version selling about 205,000 units and the GameCube version around 48,000.
Hardware sales were buoyed this week by the release of the new “pearl white” version of the PlayStation 2 console which has seen Sony’s console surge to a 50.31% market share, ahead of the Game Boy Advance at 42.66%, the GameCube at 6.22%, the PS one at 0.37% and the Xbox at 0.36%.
