A relatively quiet week for new releases has nevertheless seen robust sales in Japan with new entry Onimusha 3 selling 431,000 units in its first days on sale. This is however a little less than its previous iterations, despite Capcom’s heavy promotion of the title. Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction also failed to live up to the performance of its predecessor, although Genki will still be please with the 72,000 units sold. Also of note this week is the continued popularity of the budget priced Famicom Mini releases, which seem to be equalled in staying power by Koei’s Sengoku Musou (aka Samurai Warrior). Hardware sales are relatively unchanged this week, with the Game Boy Advance enjoying a 49.23% market share, followed by the PlayStation 2 at 43.60%, GameCube at 6.10%, Xbox at 0.50% and PS one at 0.35%.
