In the usually volatile Japanese sales charts Dragon Warrior V has managed the unusual feat of maintaining its position for three weeks in a row (oddly so has Necchu! Pro Baseball 2004 at number ten, but that seems less important). This feat seems not so much due to the franchise being the most popular game series in Japan, which it is, as to the moribund state of the Japanese games market, which is now recorded at 46.45% of the weekly average. Elsewhere in the chart the only two new entries are both anime licenses, in the form of Gunslinger Girl and Shaman King. Once again the Famicom Mini version of Super Mario Bros. continues to perform well above expectations, rising once again in the chart after three months on release. In hardware sales the situation is almost identical to last week with the PlayStation 2 dominating with a market share of 48.09%, the Game Boy Advance next at 44.52%, the GameCube at 6.35%, the Xbox at 0.57% and the PS one at 0.31%.
