Belgian developer Larian Studios says it's chosen Emergent's Gamebryo engine for a variety of its projects, including the upcoming Divinity II: Ego Draconis
The game, available now in Germany, will launch worldwide on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2010. Larian also used Gamebryo to develop educational PC title Monkey Labs
, and the studio says the diversity of the project slate highlights Gamebryo's flexibility.
"We wanted to create innovative gameplay experiences that were unique to these diverse audiences," says producer Benoit Louzas. "To accomplish this, we needed to focus on implementing our ideas, and not be too restricted by any engine limitations, so Gamebryo was perfect for our needs."
Louzas said the engine allowed the team to prototype quickly and test new ideas easily, and adds that Larian plans a "long-term partnership" with Emergent on the use of its technology.
