The Los Angeles city council has approved an ordinance restricting the hours during which minors can visit Internet cafes and requiring all such establishments to install security video cameras. The ordinance requires any business which provides five or more computers with Internet access to obtain a police permit to operate. The restrictions have been imposed after growing concerns that children were missing school and breaking curfews in order to play online games. When the law is enforced in two months time anyone under the age of eighteen will not be permitted in Internet cafés on school days between 8:30am and 1:30pm, or after 10pm. Source: Reuters
