An association of Korean online game publishers, in conjunction with the government's Ministry of Information and Communication as well as the Korea IT Information Promotion Agency, have formed the Korean Association of Game Operators. The organization will specifically include operators of online games, the most popular variety of titles in the country - some of the most popular online games in Korea currently include Lineage and Mu. The main purpose of the KAGO is to standardize the services offered by game operators, which the association defines as those who provide online services to game users, such as game masters or customer service representatives. KAGO will provide standardized training manuals for game operators, and hold seminars and training programs to improve the quality of the services. The organization grew out of a grassroots community called Game Master, Game Producer, a community of game operators providing assistance to one another as well as prospective operators. The GMGP group counted about 1,000 of the country's 15,000 game operators as members; the KAGO hopes to include a greater percentage of the total.
