A relative lack of new releases has seen the Japanese sales chart dip below the average again, to only 75.36% of average weekly sales, after a number of solid weeks of activity. The only notable new entry was anime-based beat ‘em-up Naruto: Narutimate Hero 2, with approximately 231,000 copies sold – almost 100,000 more than the first week sales of its predecessor. By comparison, Zoids Vs. III, based on Tomy’s own toy range and anime, sold less than 100,000 in its first week on sale. In hardware terms, things are slowly returning to normal after the marked effect the release of Pokémon Emerald had on Game Boy Advance sales. Nintendo’s portable still leads in terms of market share, though, at 52.44 percent, followed by the PlayStation 2 at 38.79 percent, the GameCube at 8.14 percent and the Xbox at 0.45 percent.
