Overall, though, the Japanese market is down 67.63% from last week, coinciding with the end of the Obon holiday period. But with sales at 82.03% of the weekly average, the drop is not entirely disastrous. Indeed, the total unit sales of 798,210 is well above the figure of 505,180 recorded at the same time last year, and the 565,847 recorded the year before that.
The hardware market also fell by roughly the same percentage across the board, with the Game Boy Advance still dominating with a market share of 51.55%, compared to 38.11% for the PlayStation 2, 9.64% for the GameCube and 0.43% for the Xbox.
