Japanese consumer magazine Famitsu once again polled a number of leading Japanese companies on their opinions of the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Of those asked, Koei, Namco, Nippon Ichi, Sega and Taito indicated that they are already developing titles for it. Bandai, Chunsoft, D3, Idea Factory and Irem said that they are considering PSP development in a “positive” light. Jaleco, SNK Playmore and Square Enix are still considering development. Atlus, From Software and Tomy are currently doing R&D, and Tecmo claims that it is undecided on the platform – the closest any company has come to a negative comment.
At the same time, former Sega UGA producer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, famous for his work on titles such as Rez
and Space Channel 5
, has indicated he would not consider developing titles for the Game Boy Advance because its technology is too old. However, he has been quoted as saying that he will watch the PSP more closely and commented that “the Nintendo DS is not a gorgeous system, but it is still challenging because of the dual screen display.”
