Interplay Offers Streamed Games For Monthly Fee

Interplay, building on its relationship with software streaming firm Stream Theory, has made eight of its games available online for a monthly rental fee.
The games, each priced at $5.99 per month, are streamed to players using Stream Theory technology. Interplay launched the rental service with seven titles: Fallout: Tactics - Brotherhood of Steel, Virtual Pool 3 Featuring Jeanette Lee, Crime Killer, Die by the Sword, Fallout, Fallout 2, MDK2, and Virtual Pool 2. All are available at https://interplay.streamtheory.com/home. The streamed rental is enabled by downloading and installing a 1.9MB Stream Theory Player which resides on a user's PC. Because the game is streamed to the PC, there is no installation or uninstallation. "We have been working with Stream Theory for over a year now, and we're impressed both with their technology and the acceptance we have received from our fan base," said Cal Morrell, Interplay.com's president. Interplay began offering streamed free demos from its site last December.
