Intel has introduced Intel Integrated Performance Primitives (Intel IPP) 2.0, a cross-platform software library for optimizing various graphics and audio functions.
Intel IPP 2.0 is an API optimized for the latest Intel processors, including the Pentium 4, Xeon and Itanium, which includes over 3,000 functions for signal and image processing. Version 2.0 includes a dynamic dispatching mechanism to handle microprocessor-specific branches for each function, and has new audio and video codecs that support MP3 decoding, JPEG, MPEG-4 decoding, and H.263 decoding on Intel hardware. Additional features include small matrix operations and vector math support, which benefit small-scale numeric and graphics applications.
Intel IPP 2.0 supports Microsoft Visual C++ and Intel C/C++ compilers under Windows and Linux.
Intel IPP 2.0 will be available in May for $199.
