IAC and GarageGames's "web console" InstantAction has opened its doors for a public beta, with free to play versions of GarageGames releases like
Marble Blast Online and
Think Tanks, as well as Wideload's
Cyclomite and Frozen Codebase's
ScrewJumper.
Though the company has yet to officially announce the opening, anyone currently registering for the site will be allowed instant access to its library of browser-based 3D games.
While
ScrewJumper was
first released as an Xbox Live Arcade title, as was
Marble Blast Ultra,
Cyclomite is the
first title from the
Stubbs The Zombie developer's new Wideload Shorts casual gaming division.
Still to be added to the service is the internally developed and
previously announced first person shooter
Fallen Empire: Legions, which project director Tim Aste has promised will "set a new benchmark of what the future of gaming will be on the web."
InstantAction general manager Andy Yang has
previously explained that the platform is an attempt to bring core gamers into the web space and provide more control over their entertainment and experience. It also hopes to reach third world markets where consoles will never penetrate, but where there's a "thirst for games."
