Infogrames Options Driver Rights To German Film Company

Infogrames has optioned the film and television rights to its Driver franchise, about an undercover policeman hired by the mob as a getaway driver, to German film producer Constantin Film.
Impact Pictures, a subsidiary of Constantin, is slated to produce the motion picture. With more than 12 million units sold worldwide, Driver is Infogrames' best-selling game to date. Developed by Infogrames' internal studio Reflections Interactive, the Driver debuted in 1999 and was that year's best-selling PlayStation action game. Driver 2 was released in 2000 and became the second best-selling PSX game that year. Driver 3 is under development and is schedule to ship at the end of the year. The feature film is scheduled to begin production this year, and is being developed for Paul W.S. Anderson ("Resident Evil") to direct from a screenplay by James DeMonaco, Todd Harthan and James Roday ("The Negotiator"). Among other films, Constantin Film produced "The Neverending Story", "The Name of the Rose", and "The House of the Spirits".
