In Wake Of Pogo.com Acquisition, EA To Lay Off Staff

Citing the need to consolidate positions after recent acquisitions, EA said it would lay off some employees, although neither the number of employees nor the timing was announced.
According to a company spokesman, the layoffs will come from the company's EA.com unit, as well as some unnamed game development studios. After the company's recent acquisition of pogo.com, it acknowledged that some consolidation of staff would probably be necessary. One source close to the company said the job cuts could take place later this week, but an Electronic Arts spokesman declined to comment on the timing.
